Camilla made dog charity patron
The Duchess of Cornwall has accepted an invitation to become a dog charity’s first patron, officials have said.
The Kennel Club Charitable Trust said the support of the dog-loving Camilla - who owns three Jack Russells, Freddie, Tosca and Rosie - would help raise awareness and “make a difference for dogs throughout the UK”.
Marking its 20th year, the independent Trust works alongside sister group the Kennel Club, whose own canine crusade boasts royal patrons in the Queen and Prince Michael of Kent.
The Trust’s chairman, Mike Townsend, said it was an “honour” to have the Duchess as patron.
He said: “We hope that by having such a prominent and respected person in this position, we can raise the profile and awareness of the Trust’s aim to make a difference for dogs throughout the UK, and can continue to move this vital work forwards.”
