Capital Fund Raising
What happens when a new building is required for a school? Since more educational systems would find it difficult to find the money to support it, they might have to rely on the generosity of parents and local companies for support. Somebody will need to approach businesses and ask for donations. However, a project such as this would be very expensive and they may not be able to find any sources that would actually see the project to completion. At this point, they will need to find other ways of raising the rest of the money to complete the project.
A capital fund raising campaign is not one that lasts only a day or a week or even a month. This type of fund raising will be slow and there will need to be lots of appeals to make sure that it does not fall through. It also requires a lot of planning, not only for the fund itself but for the other costs that may be involved in this huge undertaking.
Because this is such a big task, the school will have to do a lot of convincing that they have the means to carry it out; therefore research is vital. They’ll need to look at all the costs that the capital fund raising campaign would entail and decide upon a realistic time frame within which to work. In many cases most of the donations will be made up from several large donations and a few smaller ones to make up the ‘loose change’ so to speak.
Do your research into the companies that you are approaching for the larger donations and take the time to present them with a well researched proposal. You are more likely to succeed if they can see that you have taken the time and effort to properly look into everything. Think of all the questions these executives may ask you and come up with several well thought out answers to each of them. In essence, be prepared!
