Fund Raising Ideas for Your Church

If you’re short on ideas for a church fund-raising event, a good way to get organized is to ask for suggestions, list them down and pick the best idea that is right for your church.

Once you’ve selected a church fund raising event the best way to ensure your event will be successful is to advertise the church fundraising campaign. Since you want to build your congregation’s image by letting your values be heard, a good way to advertise is to ask for donations through written letters.

There are many ways to make the public aware of your fundraising event. However, an easy and trusted method is to collect financial support through the mail. While some people are not active members of the church, they can still donate to your cause.

Encourage your church members to send letters to family and friends. The church does not need to be the only one that sends out these letters, as each participant can raise more money once the word of your event has spread. Make sure you give the donor’s thank-you notes or small items to know you appreciate their help.

This should be followed up with a donor recognition plan that allows all members of your church to show their support. Donations could be a weekly offering, monthly withdrawal or a one-time donation, depending on the donor’s choice. By accepting donations from your congregation, you could either give back a thank-you by giving an inexpensive token of appreciation, such as a t-shirt or coffee mug, or recognize the names of your donor during or after church.
