Success for a not for profit or even those that are employed by a charities is driven by grants, funding and donations. Many non-profit organziations discover that finding those that will donate and getting those donations are one of its largest challenges. Most nonprofits only starting, do not pay much attention to how they are going to regularly get donations. As an alternative the majority of time is spent on its programs and the way in which the non-profit will change the world. Simply because someone starts a non-profit, does not necessarily imply donations will appear like sorcery. Instead, well thought out planning must be done in regards to how donations will be gotten.

The questions that donors ask themselves that may help you in understanding the donor is:

1. What charitabe purpose do I think is critical?
2. Based on my own personal values, what do I want to support?
3. What is my life’s purpose and what effect does that have on my giving?
4. Is there a charitble group I will actually get exhilarated about?
5. How can I establish which nonprofit will use my donations best?
6. How do I know that an nonprofit is using my donation efficiently?
7. What is the correct amount of money to give an organization?

Donations Dilema

Understanding the answers to these questions for yourself, will also help you better understand how to approach these people for donations. After deciding the answers, considerable time should be given to developing a donor model that caters to their concerns. This will assure that your non-profit donor education materials focuses on answering the questions above that are most critical to them and receiving their donations.
